We
at A&R Pistachios of California strive to grow the best tasting,
most flavorful nut possible. In order to do this, the owners
have worked with several different varieties of trees before
finding the right combinations of grafts.
With new
1999 plantings, the ranch is scheduled to bring several thousand
more trees into production by the year 2006. Manager Noel
Gurrola keeps the ranch working at top-notch performance.
His presence there is invaluable to the health of the trees,
as he has tended to their growth throughout the years.
A&R Pistachios
of California owns several pieces of equipment: three harvesters,
a new hedger, two ATVs, 4x4 trucks, tractors and diskers.
The ranch also has a new forty-foot shed to shelter this machinery
against the California weather. Attached to the manager's
office is another storage area, this one completely enclosed.
A&R Pistachios
of California has its nuts processed and packaged by reputable
processors in the San Joaquin Valley. All shipments are closely
inspected under FDA regulations for produce growers. And all
packages bear the A&R Pistachios logo, designed by the owners'
daughter, Vice President Margaret Houlton. Margaret is in
